The Fairy In The Tale edition by Julie Elizabeth Powell Children eBooks
Great story for younger children about a fairy, Prudence Willowfig, on a quest to win her wings. We learn a lot about Prudence in the first part of the book as her character is built by describing her interactions with other fairies, an interesting and humorous way to introduce the reader to Prudence.Ms. Powell's fanciful fairy names, such as Cherry Nightdew or Pervinca Bitterdove, add to the wonderful tidbits of information we learn about each one. The author floats a number of names, and one can only hope that she has built an entire world of children's books around such interesting characters.
SPOILER ALERT, so send the kids away :) -- I found it quite different to end a story such as this one without completing the quest. Prudence even frets about whether or not she did the right thing, just as anyone might, and eventually decides that it had to be a good thing to help another person. The book ends with Prudence excited and confident about completing her quest, so even though the quest is not completed, we are still treated to a feeling of success. It is a rare book where one can learn something without feeling that the lesson has been beaten into you.
Definitely a winner, and a book that will cause me to search for those other fairy books I hope the author has already written.

The Fairy In The Tale by Julie Elizabeth Powell
Prudence Willowfig is a Music Fairy who needs to earn her wings. She must complete the New Leaf Challenge to get her wings. She faces many challenges and a distraction that may interfere with her task. Will she succeed and get her wings?
Prudence is very, very likable. She is determined to get her wings, yet she also wants to help another. She is faced with many challenges, and some tough decisions. This short story moves at a fast pace, yet a lot happens on these pages.A very enjoyable read. I highly recommend The Fairy In The Tale to fantasy lovers.
*This book was a gift
My 9 year old daughter loved it. She says she likes the "nice sense of bravery and kindness throughout the story. It had a great feeling of wonder!!!"
This is a bright, fun, and shimmery short story about Prudence Willowfig, a fairy heading out on a challenge and an adventure in order to get her wings. Along the way she find some new powers within herself, and has a very interesting encounter with being from a world outside her own, giving that being a helping hand when he needs it most.
The Fairy In The Tale is a lovely story, taking place in Julie Elizabeth Powell's vividly imagined fairy world. Powell's writing is fresh and lively, with a lot of wisdom and a lot of laughter mingled together. Definitely recommended!
